Kanye West is not a supporter of human rights

Letters to the Editor: Kanye West’s antisemitism is sadly familiar. Our response doesn’t have to be as “bereft” as his. We are the United States of America, not Israel-haters. We support the right of all Americans to believe that. What we cannot tolerate is the racism and bigotry of the left.

Kanye West is not a supporter of human rights. We know this because he tweeted in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo shootings that “if you don’t take a knee, you’re no better than the terrorists”

Kanye West’s tweets are typical of the type of person that he is — and the type of person that is fueling violence in the name of his twisted “politics”

Many people have accused Kanye West of being antisemitic. They are absolutely correct. He was at the Anti-Defamation League’s conference in Washington.

But we could be excused for not knowing this. In the 21st century, it doesn’t take much to be able to find a news story about a “far right” (or left) extremist or neo-Nazi.

We live in a world which has lost its moral compass. It is no longer acceptable to simply say that someone is “just a man” or “only a racist” or “only a sexist”. We have to “prove” that an individual is a bigot before we make statements about him.

We are in the middle of a cultural and religious upheaval, and this upheaval is destroying our world and turning us into a country of self-deluded sheep.

For example, there are still some folks who refuse to believe in climate change or global warming. Many will not believe it even if the evidence points to the reality of climate change.

But not surprisingly, the more people that deny the facts about climate change, the more extreme that denial becomes.
