At first speaking event in 5 years, Kevin Spacey to receive lifetime achievement award
If you are reading this, then you can tell that Kevin Spacey has really made something of himself.
The actor’s first speaking appearance since the news broke about sexual misconduct allegations against him – and from the looks of it, it seems like he is back to his old tricks – is to receive a lifetime achievement award at a gala in Los Angeles.
Spacey announced his appearance in an Instagram post a few weeks ago, posting a black and white picture of himself with the caption: Time for a #lifetimeachievement!
And then there were those who wondered when that would be, to which Spacey replied: “You’ll find out when you find out!”
“That said, when I hear the term ‘lifetime achievement’ or ‘great’ I think of my friend, the one who has achieved his lifetime,” Spacey said, referring to the late John Lithgow, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“So when I hear the term ‘lifetime achievement’ I think of my friend John Lithgow, who has achieved his lifetime, so I’m expecting to hear that you and I have achieved our lifetimes too.”
Spacey, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, announced his speech at a private evening at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles in August 2017.
Lifetime achievement awards are now becoming a regular feature of Hollywood events – from the Golden Globes to the Academy Awards – where celebrities are awarded for their achievements in different fields.
“I’m thrilled and honoured to present Lifetime Achievement at the Beverly Hilton this month,” Spacey said in a statement on Instagram. “I wanted to recognize and honour a handful of the men who have been such an inspiration and have had the courage and fortitude to walk through life as best they could. I hope this award will offer some inspiration to others who are working hard to achieve and be great without expecting the world to just fall into place around them.”
