NLCS: Jean Segura and Phillies Beat Padres in Game 3
The Phillies are still in the chase for the NL East title, while the Arizona Diamondbacks fell to their second straight series loss, this time to the Yankees.
As for this series; Jean Segura is one of the best pitchers in the game.
After leading the NL in ERA last season with a 2.23 mark, the Cuban was one of the top-10 best relievers in the game a year ago.
In this series, he has been on a tear.
In Game 2, Segura threw eight shutout innings, going nine innings in Game 3, including the complete game shutout and a strikeout of Adam Wainwright.
At the very least, Segura and Ryan Madson will take on the bullpen role in Game 5 to face Adam Wainwright and Yovani Gallardo.
This Phillies side has been outstanding, and with Segura, the offense will be just as good.
Phillies on the rebound
The Phillies have been on the verge of collapse over the past few years or so.
While I have been on record predicting the Phillies would win the World Series, it will not be easy in Game 5.
They were blown out by the San Diego Padres 2-0 in this series, but they also have been blasted in Games 1 and 2.
The bullpen had let them down in two of the four games, in Game 2, Matt Stairs was hit by a pitch, and then in Game 3, the bullpen blew a three-run lead.
But now, the bullpen is off to another great start, and the offense has been on fire.
While some of their starters have been struggling, the rest of the team is starting to find consistency in their approach at the plate.
We have seen them hit some home runs and not allow so much singles, and that has carried over into the game.
Phillies batters are hitting more than.300 and have scored more runs in this series, including nine in the three games they have played.
In their first two games, the Phillies hit.229 and scored just two, but they hit.400 in this series.
The bullpen has been pitching well the last few days, and
